Happiness is...

Finishing all of your finals and being free to indulge in hardcore figure skating without any guilt!

Currently following the results of the Grand Prix Final (which is in Beijing) in realtime on FSU and IceCalc. And holding cheering sessions on Rinkside and FSU together at once, while trying to update myself on the new Code of Points judging...

I had forgotten how fun being a hardcore skating fan was. Heeeeeee!

And...JEFF'S IN SECOND so far behind reigning world champ Plushenko (who I'm not really a fan of, so to say..)! GOOOOOOO JEFF!!! And without a quad too! AMAZING!

*sigh*

Yeah, so me + anything that lives in water = no good.

Maybe I have this anti-water vibe around me, cause all the fish I had as a little kid died, and my second tadpole of the week has just kicked the bucket. However, my guinea pigs are just doing fine and dandy, and I've had them for over a year!

I really shouldn't work as a marine biologist...

The greatest thing in the world!

I may have found it.

In the past day, I have learned:

• Torvill & Dean's Bolero is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTICALLY AMAZING. Just like everyone said it was. Now why isn't ice dancing today this absolutely fantastically amazing? *sigh*
  
• Torvill & Dean's Paso Doble is also absolutely amazing. Not as fantastic as Bolero but MAN! Can Chris Dean choreograph! Mhm!
  
• Janet Lynn is also amazing. Stupid jumps - now nobody wants to skate like that anymore!
  
• Kurt Browning is a god. I had forgotten this. Forgive me, skategods!
  
• Jeff Buttle is my hero. He's also awfully cute, and he's studying chemical engineering! A fellow nerd! w00t!
  
• Emanuel "E-man" Sandhu is my secondary hero.
  
• Fedor Andreev is really hot in motion. He also looks distinctly Russian in motion; something that isn't quite grasped in photos.
  
• Johnny "I'm too talented for you" Weir lands jumps like Michelle Kwan. Wow. But DUDE he NEEDS to cut his hair! He looks like Elena Liashenko! Or a brunette Evgeny Plushenko with a better haircut....but please for the love of God, cut your hair!
  
• Michelle Kwan's sister Karen is a really nice skater. Although, she needed a cookie in her younger days. Muchly.
  
• Alexei Yagudin looks really hot in a tank top. I had forgotten this too. Oops...
  
• Foreign commentators really do talk less than American commentators. *sigh*

Researching drugs (or not)

So, I'm doing research on Web of Science about stress hormone levels in relation to fat stores in birds. And so I'm clicking around the citations to this article that's pretty relevant to my topic, and I find stuff like:

• Effects of antiglucocorticoid RU-486 on development of obesity in obese FA/FA Zucker rats
  
• Increased adrenocorticotropin, cortisol, and arginine vasopressin secretion in primates after the antiglucocorticoid steroid RU-486 - Dose-reponse relationships
  
• The antiglucocorticoid and antiprogestin steroid RU-486 suppresses the adrenocorticotropin response to ovine corticotropin releasing hormone in man

Yes, we seem to be giving rats, "primates", and "man" abortion pills. And the fact that only one of the articles refers to its abortive qualities ("antiprogestin") points to other uses of said drug.

...and I'm not sure how that has to do with stress hormone levels and fat stores in birds...
