First day of classes...
Not as exciting now, I suppose, compared to all of the excitement happening down in New Orleans. There's nothing like a freak force of nature to remind us how small and insignificant we really are. But that's part of the human spirit, I suppose - being wonderfully resilient. Might take us a bit longer this time, though. I hope everyone is going to make a donation to the Red Cross or help volunteer or something, because it's a huge effing mess.In other first-week-of-school excitement news, I just received an order of art supplies from Cheap Joe's and I was wondering why the box of canvas panels was so big and SO heavy. Turns out that they sent me thirteen 3-packs of panels instead of five! Normally, being my stingy self, I would just revel in my luck of getting 24 extra canvas panels for free (credit card wasn't charged for them), but Cheap Joe's is such a nice and cute company, I couldn't help but contact them about their mistake.
The first time I ordered from them, they sent me some cute poems about spring, as well as a little packet of flowerseeds (which I have yet to plant). Every time you order from them, they include a card thanking you for being such a great customer (awwww..). Even though their prices beats any other art stores out of the water, if you don't count start-of-semester sales in Pasadena, LOL. And just now, when I opened up the sketchbox of my new French easel, I found a wood palette and a book on plein air (outdoor) painting. Nothing on the description said that they were going to include that. It's like Christmas every time you order from them. Or, I suppose it's like a box of chocolates.....
So, being a supernice and cute company guilt trips your customers into being nice to you too. Fact.
